Background
Laurence Stephen Lowry (1887 - 1976) was an English artist famous for his
drawings and paintings depicting the industrial districts of Northern England
during the early 20th Century. His distinctive style included urban
landscapes with many human figures in the form of matchstick men and
women.
Bothy Threads, a UK based cross stitch design and manufacturer, have gained the
licence to translate Lowry's paintings into cross stitch design, embroidery and
needlepoint designs. The Lowry cross stitch range includes adaptations of
many of his famous works, a small selection of which is featured below.
