Background
Miffy is a small rabbit character created by Dick Bruna, the Dutch
artist. Miffy was created in 1955 and is drawn in a minimalist style with
a few lines and primary colours. Miffy is primarily found in a series of
books written and illustrated by Dick Bruna. The books are written in
rhyming verse using everyday situations that children can understand and from
which they can learn. Miffy books have an advisory reading age
of 4 to 8 years.
The other characters that appear in the books are her family: Miffy's parents,
her Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Alice, her Uncle Bob, her brother
and sister and many friends (Boris and Barbara Bear; Poppy Pig, Aggie and
Melanie).
Miffy is now available on many household items such as clothes, stationery and
toys.
Miff Cross-Stitch
Bothy Threads, the UK based cross-stitch designer and manufacturer, have gained
the licence to adapt Miffy into cross stitch designs. A small range has
been introduced in 2008 which includes cross-stitch samplers, cross-stitch kits
and an afghan. A number of these designs are featured here, simply click
